Today's tip is for the writing exam
This time two things to avoid. If you are answering Academic Task 1, remember you do not need to include all the information on the diagram and
you may lose marks if you do! If you are answering General Task 1, remember you must decide if you are need to write an informal, formal or
neutral letter before you start writing. Your English may be great but if it is the wrong register, you will lose marks.

Today’s tip is for the writing exam.
When you are practising exam questions, it’s a good idea to start by writing answers without worrying about the time. Focus on your opinions,
ideas and evidence and examples. Then, when you are confident of your technique, you can start writing answers with the time limits of 20
minutes for task 1 and 40 minutes for task 2.

Today’s tip is for the writing exam, task 2 – the long question.
We often see this as a first sentence: This is a very controversial topic and there are many different opinions.
Another common start is: Recently there have been many changes in opinions about this subject.
This is OK but too many candidates start task 2 like this, so it’s good to try something different. You can use an interesting example or a personal
experience instead, to get the examiner’s attention.
